Oh My Gosh Josh (Comedy Performance for Kids & Parents)

I took the girls to see the hour-long production of Oh My Gosh Josh and, oh my gosh, it was so fun! We saw him perform at the library, but he had several other performance locations throughout the Springfield area this summer. Apparently, he’s nationally recognized and does shows all over the country for all kinds of audiences. As his website states, “Oh My Gosh Josh is one of the most versatile entertainers around. His shows blend comedy, magic, juggling, circus stunts, audience participation and much more!”

Josh is naturally hilarious and was incredible at quickly answering the kids’ spontaneous and unpredictable responses to his show. He kept everyone entertained the entire time, which is pretty incredible considering there were mostly preschool and elementary-aged kids in the crowd. My kids and I laughed out loud more than once, and the whole room (grandparents down to the littlest ones) was engaged. The teenage girl behind me laughed as much as the first graders in front of me.

Josh picked quite a few volunteers to help him during the show (he tended to pick the older, elementary-aged kids) and interacted so well with them. The kids loved whatever silly thing he did, even if they didn’t fully understand what was going on. There was something about him that just made everyone smile.

If your kids are a little on the antsy side and can’t sit still for an entire hour (I’ve got one of those…) then just position yourself and them toward the back so they can make their way to you when they need to. It is kind of a long show for little ones, but it’s totally worth trying. The audience was so young and noisy that it wasn’t an issue for some kids to be up and moving.

And another reason to go? It’s FREE and another way to keep your kids entertained on those long summer days. Overall, this is definitely an event that we can’t wait to go see again next summer!
