Disney Postcards Mailed to Your Child

My girls LOVE Disney…Disney princesses, Disney songs, Disney movies, Disney anything….. So when I heard that they could write a letter to their favorite character and get a postcard mailed back to them, I knew that they’d be pretty excited. I didn’t know if it would actually work, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try (bonus: this activity encourages creative thinking, hones letter writing techniques, and practices fine motor skills), so one morning, I gave the girls some stationery and let them go to town writing out notes (with my help) and drawings to the princess/character of their choice (let’s be honest, I think they were all princesses, except for the littlest one who loves Minnie Mouse). We stamped them, sent them out, and then went on with our day.

Fortunately, it took a pretty long time (about 2 months) for the postcards to arrive to us, which was helpful because the girls forgot that they had written letters (so I didn’t worry if the postcards never came). But, one day, two showed up in our mailbox! A few weeks later, two more showed up. We had written to both Disney World (Florida) and Disneyland (California), strategically in my mind because I was hoping that they’d get at least one back from one of the places. As far as I could tell, the Disney World postcards were from princesses and the Disneyland ones were from Mickey and Friends.

Obviously the postcards are super generic and not personal at all (printed autographs), but my kids didn’t care and loved not only getting something in the mail, but something from Disney with their name on it. They squealed with excitement and carried them around for a day or two until they forgot about them enough for me to tuck them away.

Try it! It’s FREE (besides the cost of a stamp, so I guess that’s something nowadays…), makes for a fun screen-free activity, and ends in a postcard in the mailbox in a month or two!
